General Tech '11 - No. Utah

The 2011 Northern Utah General Technology “Concept to Company” contest was the 10th C2C competition. It took place from May to July 2011. The focus of the contest was on general technology innovations

The contest was a huge success with over 160 applicants applying to the contest. From those, eight finalists were chosen. The finalists presented their ideas to a panel of judges on July 20th, 2011 at the NorthFront Business Resource Center in Kaysville. At the conclusion of the judging, three winners were chosen and prizes were awarded.

The Grand Prize winner received $5,000 in cash from SEED Weber-Davis-Morgan, and $13,500 in services from Kunzler IP, Ballard Spahr Law, ForthGear Marketing and Advanced CFO Solutions. The Runners-Up received $2,500 in cash and $5,500 in services from the same. The three winners and their ideas, along with a press release, are listed below.

VuTherapy has developed a secure online system for remote psychological therapy that allows patients to search for therapists and receive therapy from their own home. Due to various factors such as stigma or geographical remoteness, several hundred thousand patients search for online therapy every month and yet there is no current solution. VuTherapy plans to addresses that need and solve it.

As the Grand Prize Winner VuTherapy was awarded $5,000 in cash and $13,500 in services to take their product to market.

ForeUp (Golf Compete) developed an online system that connects golfers and golf courses and allows golfers to book outings with friends by leveraging their social networks. It allows golfers to receive lower green fee rates according to the size of their groups and it improves revenue for golf courses by filling more tee-times.

As the Runner Up Winner ForeUp was awarded $2,500 in cash and $5,500 in services to take their product to market.

SquarEver developed a smartphone application that enhances calls by enabling data transfer between participants. It allows customer service centers to show callers their billing statements, account history, etc. on their phone during the call. Callers waiting in the call queue can also see their own account info and notes from previous calls.

As the Runner Up Winner SquarEver was awarded $2,500 in cash and $5,500 in services to take their product to market.
